"Timing is everything in life," says Capsicum Founding CEO and A&R Director Roger Meltzer , "I have been talking about working with Stephen (Ras Katri) Wise for decades, but it just started happening now.

"Although we were both part of The Sound of Philadelphia back in the day, I never had an opportunity to use his skills on sax and flute in a woodwinds arrangement and never even ran into him at 309 South Broad Street or at the renowned Sigma Sound Studios on 12th Street. And even after Philly guitarist Ron Gentile and I wrote Our Day as the theme song for a Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicellonostalgia beach movie -- a song the director accepted only to have to scrap the project when the actress was stricken with M.S. -- it was Stephen whom friends of Ron brought in to voice the demo.

"Shame, too...he smoked the vocal."

Along the way, Stephen has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Stevie Wonder and was featured on two of his CDs, Jungle Fever and Characters. He's either performed and/or recorded with reggae legend Luciano, Patti Labelle, Boyz II Men, The Roots, Britney Spears and Teena Marie to name a few. He gained global visibility appearing and competing as a semifinalist on Star Search. In 1990, when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and appeared at the steps of City Hall in Los Angeles, CA, Stephen performed to embrace and honor him.

As a recording artist, songwriter, producer, band leader, and musician on sax, flute, keys and djembe drum, Stephen has also led the Edge wedding and corporate band for the last 20 years to its track record of success in the private party industry. Stephen also produces and cultivates many upcoming artists, singers, poets and spoken word-ologists.

"Fortunately I tracked him down on Facebook and introduced myself and my label, and told him I was thinking about his voice for several songs I had in production with Reality Weekes; one of them was the late Jim Croce'sOperator/That's Not The Way It Feels. He liked the track and agreed to voice the song and add a soprano sax accompaniment for Capsicum; and the collaboration that was always meant to be has finally come to fruition.
