Born in Ritchies, Clarendon parish, Jamaica, KKyan began his musical career as a toddler when KKyan’ s grandfather formed a full size acoustic guitar out of one sold piece of wood for him that KKyan still plays to this day.
“I am delighted to welcome this talented young man into the growing Capsicum family of reggae-in-fusion artists,” said label CEO and Director of A&R Roger Meltzer. “His vocals rekindle memories of melody and harmony in reggae music from the days of its earliest musical heritage and hold promise for a bright future in a market desperately hungry for genuine artistry. He seasons his songs with a hot and spicy style, blending acoustic reggae soul with a twist of world beat, and I’m looking forward to working with him in the studio. I can hear his influences from Maxi PriestDavid Hinds (Steel Pulse) and Beres Hammond (without the throatiness) and I just know he’s going to smoke “Child of Jah” with its timely message that all murder is fratricide, then turn around and capture the pain and tenderness of an r&b-flavored duet "Lovin' On Borowed Time" with a Hartford artist to be named later.
Recording songs like“Wicked Woman” for Boot Camp Records, KKyan has performed on stages with top artists such as Barrington Levy, Gyptian, Capleton and Cocoa Tea
